Giving back to the community can be easy and fun. There’s plenty of things you can do that don’t involve money, a group of volunteers or a lot of time. We’ve come up with five easy ways you can give back to your community.
1. Volunteer at an Animal Shelter
Volunteering has never been so cute when you help out at your local shelter. You’ll get to spend time with some really cute and loving animals so there’s nothing that can compare!
2. Volunteer with Kids
What’s the next cutest thing other than pets? Kids! Local after school care programs, churches, camps, day cares and even the YMCA are always looking for older adults to help guide younger children. Be a mentor and pass on a skill to a child who might not have it.
3. Volunteer at a Senior Center
Senior Centers are always looking for volunteers and really you don’t have to do anything except say hello and listen to stories from a time you don’t know. You make an impact and you learn something new.
4. Sponsor a Youth Sports Team
Find a local sports team and help them out! You’ll be able to help raise the funds they need for things like equipment, uniforms, etc. Plus, it’s publicity for you!
5. Support a Local Business
By purchasing something from a local business, you’re not only helping the business but also your community. It helps create a sense of community and helps the owner feel like they belong.
There are plenty more things you can do — let us know in the comments how you give back to your community!
